The Niblet Tortoise is a compact pocket fountain pen from Esterbrook, made from a warm amber-brown tortoiseshell acrylic with a German-made #6 JoWo nib available in extra fine through broad, plus flex and stub.

Tortoise is the vintage soul of the lineup — warm browns and ambers swirled like an old library in pen form. It's the finish that looks like it has stories to tell, and it pairs beautifully with a warm brown or deep orange ink.

Everything you love about the Estie, just smaller. The Niblet keeps the curves and character of its older sibling in a clipless, pocket-sized silhouette that slips into bags, pockets, and pen cases — ideal for daily journaling, quick notes, and travel. Inside is the same German-made #6 JoWo nib found in the Estie line, so nibs are fully interchangeable between the two.

Every Niblet comes in a retro-inspired presentation box with a soft felt pen pouch — a lovely gift for yourself or a fellow pen person. One standard international short ink cartridge and a converter are both included, so you can use cartridges or bottled ink from the first day.

Nib options

Every Niblet takes the same German-made #6 JoWo steel nib as the Estie, offered in seven sizes:

• Extra Fine (EF)
• Extra Fine Flex (EF Flex)
• Fine (F)
• Fine Flex (F Flex)
• Medium (M)
• Broad (B)
• Stub 1.1

The flex nibs have softer tines that widen the line slightly under pressure. The 1.1 stub has a flat-ground tip that lays down broad downstrokes and thin cross-strokes, which gives ordinary handwriting some character. For help choosing, read our Esterbrook Nib Guide.
