hotaru-bi is a 15ml bottled fountain pen ink from Pilot's Iroshizuku line — a bright chartreuse green with warm yellow, named for the light of fireflies.

蛍火 is firefly light. Fireflies over a summer field give off a yellow-green glow that never quite settles into either color, and that's what this ink does on paper. In the bottle it looks nearly black; all of that brightness lives on the page. It's light — a fine nib gives you something close to a highlighter, and a wet, broad nib brings the green forward. People use it for annotating, underlining, and drawing more than for long pages of writing.
