Clairefontaine Classic Séyes Ruled Notebook — Made in France

Clairefontaine’s classic staplebound notebook has been a fixture in french classrooms since the 1950s. The séyes ruling uses a system of widely spaced horizontal lines with narrow vertical margin lines, originally designed to help students develop consistent, upright cursive handwriting. it’s a ruling that rewards slow, intentional writing - and once you use it, it’s hard to go back.

The paper is 90g bright white clairefontaine stock - the same paper the brand is known for worldwide. Fountain pen ink sits beautifully on it: no bleed, minimal ghosting, and the kind of smooth writing experience that makes you actually want to sit down and write. Markers play nicely too.

The covers are soft but laminated, which means they hold up to being tossed in a bag, carried to a coffee shop, or stacked on a desk. These are working notebooks, not precious ones.
